Rose City Bluegrass Band

A long time ago in Vancouver, Washington, there was a place called The Steeple Center, an old church where bluegrass classes were held. It is where we met and “steeped” ourselves in the music. Strangers became friends and when The Steeple Center was eventually sold and classes ended, we decided to continue to meet and jam, first at one house and then another. One day, Charlie was asked to perform bluegrass at a gig. He called his friends, Gretchen, Gene, and Garrett and we put together a set of our favorites from the weekly jam. We collected more gigs (and more sets), chose the name Rose City Bluegrass, cut a demo CD, and a developed a website. We’ve now played for non-profits, political rallies, weddings, backyard barbeques, and farmers markets. Where will the bluegrass journey take us next? Watch the calendar and stay tuned. The rest will be history.

looking for availability & rate for 3 or 4 hour performance on Friday, Sept 11th, 8pm-ish, indoors. We are a non-profit org hosting a post-conference farewell dinner/dance party for about 150 persons from Central, South & North America. Event location is Portland (venue still to be determined, but probably along the MAX line, either downtown or inner NE). We are also considering having a square dance caller to do a demo, possibly dance lessons for the group; now thinking bluegrass would be a great tie-in if we go with that theme. We have no sound equipment and are asking for donations of every kind from everyone at this point, so currently have little in the way of funds. In other words, we don’t KNOW what our budget might be for music! What would it take to get your fab group to play that night? Thanks, Gayle

We find ourselves in need of a Bluegrass Band for Saturday and/or Sunday, Sept. 26th & 27th for our Pumpkin Patch & Harvest Festival. The “stage” is outside with a tarp for sun and rain coverage. We do not have a sound system so you would have to bring your own. We would like music from 12 pm – 3 pm. This would be our opening weekend. I realize this is late notice – if you would like to give us a try, please let me know as soon as possible. Let me know what your fee usually is and we will also feed you a fantastic lunch!
