Volunteer

We are currently seeking help in the following areas. If you are interested in helping out the OBA please send an email to president@oregonbluegrass.org. The estimated commitment is 2–3 hours per week unless otherwise noted.

🎨 Design Volunteer

Purpose: Provide light, consistent visual support for OBA communications.

Core Responsibilities (bare minimum):

  • Create or update simple graphics using existing templates (social posts, flyers, email headers)
  • Make small edits to existing designs as requested
  • Ensure visuals align with OBA branding (logos, colors, fonts provided)

Not Expected:

  • Brand development or major redesign projects
  • Rush turnaround or large multi-page layouts

Ideal Skills:

  • Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools
  • Comfortable working from templates

Why this role matters:

Clear, consistent visuals help the Oregon Bluegrass Association look professional and welcoming, making it easier for members and partners to engage with our work.


πŸ“± Social Media Volunteer

Purpose: Maintain a steady, basic social media presence for OBA.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Post 2–3 pieces of content per week using provided copy or prompts
  • Share relevant member news, events, or announcements
  • Monitor comments/messages and flag anything that needs follow-up

Not Expected:

  • Daily posting
  • Content strategy development
  • Analytics reporting beyond basic observations

Ideal Skills:

  • Familiarity with Facebook & Instagram
  • Comfortable scheduling posts

A steady social media presence keeps the bluegrass community informed, connected, and aware of opportunities to participate and belong.

🀝 Regional Outreach Coordinator (Volunteer)

Purpose: Help OBA stay connected to members, partners, and the broader bluegrass community.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Send or forward occasional outreach emails using provided templates
  • Help maintain a simple contact list (bands, festivals, partners)
  • Share OBA opportunities with relevant community groups

Not Expected:

  • Cold calling
  • Fundraising asks
  • Long-term partnership negotiations

Ideal Skills:

  • Friendly, reliable communicator
  • Comfortable with email and spreadsheets

Why this role matters:

Personal, thoughtful outreach strengthens relationships across Oregon’s bluegrass network and helps ensure people know how to get involved.

🎻 Program Coordinator (Volunteer)

Purpose: Support coordination of Oregon bluegrass programs, workshops, or events at a basic level.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist with scheduling or logistics checklists
  • Serve as a point of contact for one assigned program or event
  • Track simple tasks or deadlines and report progress

Not Expected:

  • Event production or on-site management
  • Program design or budgeting

Ideal Skills:

  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable following a checklist

Reliable coordination behind the scenes helps build cohesion between Oregon bluegrass programs and ensures partners have a positive, organized experience.

πŸ“¨ Newsletter Coordinator (Volunteer)

Purpose: Ensure members receive clear, timely updates about OBA news, events, and opportunities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Compile and send a regular email newsletter (monthly or as scheduled)
  • Gather content from Board members, committees, or regional outreach coordinators (using provided prompts)
  • Format and proofread newsletter content using an existing platform/template
  • Maintain a simple publishing schedule (currently set to quarterly)

Not Expected:

  • Writing long-form articles
  • Growing the email list
  • Designing new layouts or managing complex analytics

Ideal Skills:

  • Comfortable with email tools like Mailchimp or similar
  • Strong attention to detail and basic editing skills
