SUMMARY:The Brothers Comatose with AJ Lee & Blue Summit at the Midtown Ballroom
DESCRIPTION:Brothers Comatose: Whether traveling to gigs on horseback or by tour bus\, Americana mavens The Brothers Comatose forge their own path with raucous West Coast renderings of traditional bluegrass\, country and rock-n-roll music. The five-piece string band is anything but a traditional acoustic outfit with their fierce musicianship and rowdy\, rock concert-like shows. \nAJ Lee & Blue Summit: AJ Lee & Blue Summit are an award-winning energetic\, charming\, and technically jaw-dropping band quickly rising on the national roots music scene. Based in Santa Cruz\, California\, the group met as teenagers\, picking and jamming together as kids at local music festivals and jams until one day\, they decided they would be a band. “Our roots go really deep\,” explains de facto band leader Lee. “We met when we were young kids… We definitely decided to choose each other as a chosen family band later on in life\, but in a lot of ways it was naturally just like that in the beginning.” \n$25 in advance\, $30 at door

SUMMARY:Della Mae at the Showdown
DESCRIPTION:Della Mae is a GRAMMY-nominated all-woman string band founded by lead vocalist/guitarist Celia Woodsmith and 2-time Grand National champion fiddle player Kimber Ludiker. Rounding out the current touring lineup are guitarist Avril Smith\, and IBMA Bass Player of the Year Vickie Vaughn. Hailing from across North America\, and reared in diverse musical styles\, Della Mae is one of the most charismatic and engaging roots bands touring today. They have traveled to over 30 countries spreading peace and understanding through music. Their mission as a band is to showcase top female musicians\, and to improve opportunities for women and girls through advocacy\, mentorship\, programming\, and performance. Long regarded as one of the most powerful live bands in bluegrass/Americana\, Della Mae’s live show always includes covers by songwriters and artists they esteem as a playful treat. Inevitably\, after release tours\, the band returns home having performed songs on the road that fans love but are unrecorded. They’ve recently released four such songs – Can’t Let Go\, Ohio\, The Shetland Islands\, and a well-beloved cover of Blind Melon’s No Rain – as a nod to their beloved first song dancers and new fans alike. \nDoors 7pm / Show 8pm / 21+

“We met when we were young kids… We definitely decided to choose each other as a chosen family band later on in life\, but in a lot of ways it was naturally just like that in the beginning.” \nDOORS : 7PM \, SHOW : 8PM\, AGES 21 +

SUMMARY:The Hell of Helene: A Cascadia Fundraiser for Appalachia with Skillethead\, Quattlebaum\, Danger Gently and The Color Study
DESCRIPTION:Come support a great night of music for an important cause – Hurricane Helene relief. This will be a long-term effort\, folks\, even more so now that its not front and center in the news cycle. This is an amazing lineup of our local top notch musicians\, some of which have direct ties to Western North Carolina. \nSkillethead – Central Oregon’s Hometown favorites! Setting roots in the high and dry Central Oregon desert\, Skillethead calls forth the best of bluegrass old and new. They ground themselves firmly in the bluegrass traditions of driving fiddle tunes\, layered harmonies\, and single mics\, all the while weaving in inspiration and originality gleaned from genres far and wide. You can expect to hear a Stanley Brothers number right alongside a stirring original or a rollicking rock cover done in Skillethead’s own unique fashion. \nQuattlebaum Duo – Quattlebaum\, Southern Gent and Banjo Slinger\, brings more to the table than just music. With his infectious smile and weird antics\, he brings people together; encouraging camaraderie and building community. The singer-songwriter\, currently based in Bend\, Oregon\, tours the country picking and strumming indie-folk songs that are spacious and emotive\, and have an implicit groove. When he plays\, you can hear the reverberations of the rustic mountains clashing with the breezy ocean. Like a willowy heron\, Quattlebaum struts around on stage as the music moves through him\, evoking a range of emotions from laughter to longing. He shares tender moments\, where one can almost hear his banjo breathing\, then erupts into raucous peaks of unbridled energy—his captivating solo performances take his audiences on a ride. \nDanger Gently – Centered firmly around the authentic grooves of Darin Gentry’s Appalachian fiddle playing\, Danger Gently will have you on your feet dancing away. Darin feels that traditional music and environmental custodianship are closely related\, as both are central to the survival of a region’s heritage\, and this could not be more true today. \nAnd The Color Study

SUMMARY:Bluegrass Tuesdays with Fog Holler at the Showdown
DESCRIPTION:Fog Holler is a bluegrass band with an edge. What gives them that edge is a topic of hot debate. For some\, it’s musicianship – these bluegrass cats shred. For others\, it’s the songwriting\, traditional in style but topical in substance. Sometimes\, they undeniably snare people with the squad factor – folks see 4 grown adults in matching monochrome\, and they get curious. The secret\, according to Fog Holler\, is simply that they write and play bluegrass in 2024\, with similar intention but very different context from the genre’s originators. Inspired by a range of influences from The Stanley Brothers to Buck Owens to Meshuggah\, Fog Holler breathes fresh life into well worn forms like the murder ballad and the power waltz. Described by two-time Grammy Award Winner Cathy Fink as “The next generation of the many shades of grass”\, Fog Holler’s captivating tunes and coordinated outfits are quickly enthralling longtime bluegrass fans and newcomers alike. \nDoors 7pm / $10 / 21+
