DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, November 1st at 7 PM\, the Clatskanie Cultural Center will feature a terrific folk duo\, Phoenix. The American folk pop duo Phoenix consists of award-winning songwriters Tim and Kathy Crosby\, who have been performing together for over two decades. Together\, they have collaborated on several CD’s and are known far and wide for their songwriting abilities and entertainment style. Kathy is from Clatskanie\, graduating from CHS in 1980 and her family still owns a farm in the Quincy area.\nTim and Kathy have performed together from Las Vegas to Nashville\, in venues large and small. Being compared to the likes of Willie Nelson\, Gillian Welch\, David Rawlings\, Mary Travers\, and June Carter Cash\, Phoenix rises in the joy of a sound that highlights the multi-instrumental talents of both musicians while focusing on a variety of vocal styles and abilities.\nHere are just a few of their recent awards: 2024 Josie Award Nominee Duo of the year (Folk/American)\, 2023 Global Music Awards Bronze Medal Winner\, 2023 Intercontinental Music Awards Finalists (Folk)\, 2023 Josie Award Nominee Album of the Year (Folk/American) and Duo of the Year and 2022 W.A.M. SUMMARY:Phoenix Duo performance in Clatskanie\, OR
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, November 1st at 7 PM\, the Clatskanie Cultural Center will feature a terrific folk duo\, Phoenix. The American folk pop duo Phoenix consists of award-winning songwriters Tim and Kathy Crosby\, who have been performing together for over two decades. Together\, they have collaborated on several CD’s and are known far and wide for their songwriting abilities and entertainment style. Kathy is from Clatskanie\, graduating from CHS in 1980 and her family still owns a farm in the Quincy area.\nTim and Kathy have performed together from Las Vegas to Nashville\, in venues large and small. Being compared to the likes of Willie Nelson\, Gillian Welch\, David Rawlings\, Mary Travers\, and June Carter Cash\, Phoenix rises in the joy of a sound that highlights the multi-instrumental talents of both musicians while focusing on a variety of vocal styles and abilities.\nHere are just a few of their recent awards: 2024 Josie Award Nominee Duo of the year (Folk/American)\, 2023 Global Music Awards Bronze Medal Winner\, 2023 Intercontinental Music Awards Finalists (Folk)\, 2023 Josie Award Nominee Album of the Year (Folk/American) and Duo of the Year and 2022 W.A.M. Silver Award Best Cover Song. “12 miles to Clatskanie” is one of their many wonderful songs.\nPlease plan on attending this limited-seating fundraiser at the Birkenfeld Theater Ballroom. SUMMARY:John Reischman and the Jaybirds at Tsunami Books
DESCRIPTION:The Jaybirds put their own particular stamp on bluegrass\, old time and acoustic roots music\, with a satisfying blend of traditional and modern styles. They also give the impression that they really enjoy playing together. There’s plenty here to please both bluegrass traditionalists and lovers of modern American folk music\, especially for those with an appreciation of great vocal harmony\, as well as masterful instrumental playing. Many of John’s dozens of original instrumentals have become popular favourites for sessions and covers\, such as the jam standard Saltspring. John has three critically-acclaimed solo instrumental albums and has recorded on many other projects\, including the Grammy-winning True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe. John also plays Latin-based jazz and choro music with highly regarded finger-style acoustic guitarist/composer John Miller; the duo has released three superb albums.
