SUMMARY:Never Come Down and Tall Poppy String Band at Mississippi Studios
DESCRIPTION:Never Come Down:\nFormed in 2017\, Never Come Down was born from the vibrant if not occasionally overlooked music scene of Portland\, Oregon. Much like the city that inspired them\, they’re a smart\, charming\, off-beat amalgam of varied backgrounds and tastes. In today’s paradoxical world where honoring tradition is often pitted against exploration and innovation\, the band confidently walks the line between the modern and the tried-and-true. They’ve gained a loyal following and continue to win over audiences everywhere from Reykjavik’s Iceland Airwaves to San Francisco’s acclaimed Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. They’ve gained the attention of industry veterans\, and toured in support of notable acts such as Yonder Mountain String Band and The Travelin’ McCourys\, among others. Never Come Down’s live performance never disappoints- with showmanship\, originality\, songwriting and musical prowess far beyond their years. \nTall Poppy String Band:\nTall Poppy String Band is a new Old Time trio featuring fiddler George Jackson\, guitarist Morgan Harris\, and banjoist Cameron DeWhitt. Drawing from the deep well of American string band music\, Tall Poppy String Band approaches tradition with playful curiosity; each performance more a discussion than a statement. Whether they’re chasing the elusive downbeat of a source recording\, playing with the pronouns in a bluegrass standard\, or challenging the assumed roles of their instruments\, Tall Poppy String Band endeavours to prove that tradition is still being written.

SUMMARY:Fog Holler at the Muddy Rudder
DESCRIPTION:Fog Holler is a bluegrass band with an edge. What gives them that edge is a topic of hot debate. For some\, it’s musicianship – these bluegrass cats shred. For others\, it’s the songwriting\, traditional in style but topical in substance. Sometimes\, they undeniably snare people with the squad factor – folks see 4 grown adults in matching monochrome\, and they get curious. The secret\, according to Fog Holler\, is simply that they write and play bluegrass in 2025\, with similar intention but very different context from the genre’s originators. Inspired by a range of influences from The Stanley Brothers to Buck Owens to Meshuggah\, Fog Holler breathes fresh life into well worn forms like the murder ballad and the power waltz. Described by two-time Grammy Award Winner Cathy Fink as “The next generation of the many shades of grass”\, Fog Holler’s captivating tunes and coordinated outfits are quickly enthralling longtime bluegrass fans and newcomers alike.

SUMMARY:Alison Krauss & Union Station at Edgefield
